The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a shared global framework for inclusive growth, social equity, environmental sustainability, and institutional accountability. For West Africa, the SDGs are not only international commitments but strategic pillars guiding regional integration, economic transformation, and democratic consolidation.
ROAJELF – Network of Young Female Leaders (ECOWAS Chapter) aligns its programming with the SDGs, particularly:
-
SDG 5 – Gender Equality: Strengthening women’s political participation and leadership representation.
-
SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth: Promoting women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship.
-
SDG 16 – Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions: Supporting youth participation in governance and peacebuilding processes.
-
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Facilitating regional collaboration across Member States and institutional actors.
Through policy engagement, leadership development, and regional coordination, ROAJELF contributes to implementation efforts that place young women at the center of sustainable development and governance reform.
Achieving the SDGs in West Africa requires structured inclusion of youth leadership, gender-responsive policy frameworks, and strengthened institutional partnerships. ROAJELF remains committed to advancing these priorities through coordinated regional action and evidence-based advocacy.
Inclusive leadership is not peripheral to sustainable development—it is foundational to it.
